today I read that compassion, suffering with, means "identifying with the homeless person on the street, the depressed teenager about to commit suicide, the helpless trees in the Amazon rain forest, the frightened animals in a laboratory, and with the tortured feelings of anger and hate that we harbor in our own psyches". the question is: by these examples, just how compassionate am I?
