Advent or Christmas confusion

The secular world tells us this is the Christmas season, mostly in an attempt to encourage spending.  The church operates on a different calendar and tells us it's Advent, the waiting time, the anticipating time.  The trouble with this confusion of course is that both are right (though the secular one for all the wrong reasons!)--Jesus HAS ALREADY come.   All the anticipation of a baby in a manger holds the danger of infantalising the Cosmic Christ--making him safe and secure and settled and not at all threatening.  We set up cute creches and beautiful decorations then put them, and him, away for another year.
